Children’s Dentistry

The first visit of children to a dental office is a milestone that fills us with excitement. It marks the initial step towards what we anticipate will be a lifetime of maintaining healthy smiles and good oral habits. The well-being and comfort of their baby teeth play a crucial role in influencing their eating habits, facial structure, and smile, as well as the development of their adult teeth. A healthy smile not only impacts their confidence during their formative years but also extends into adulthood.

At your child’s first appointment we will:

The primary goal of your child’s inaugural visit is to create a comfortable, enjoyable experience and initiate a positive connection with our dental team. We use child-friendly language to explain our procedures and strive to make your child as at ease as can be during their visit.

Show and tell

We’re thrilled to meet our new patients! During their visit, we’ll take them on a chair ride, walk them through our procedures, and introduce them to the special tools we use to maintain their bright and healthy smiles. There’s absolutely nothing to be afraid of here!

Gently Examine

We will conduct a gentle examination of your child’s gums, tongue, teeth, and overall health. This thorough examination allows us to detect any potential issues at an early stage, enabling us to offer personalized care tailored to your child’s needs.

Educate

We will demonstrate to you and your child how they can brush and clean their teeth at home, and how grown-ups can help too! We would love to answer any questions you or your child have about dental health.

to schedule an initial consultation & exam.

Your consultation will include an examination of everything from your teeth, gums and soft tissues to the shape and condition of your bite. Generally, we want to see how your whole mouth looks and functions. Before we plan your treatment we want to know everything about the health and aesthetic of your smile, and, most importantly, what you want to achieve so we can help you get there.

Frequently Asked Questions

On average, children should schedule a cleaning every six months to ensure that their smiles stay healthy and happy.

Your oral health is more than just your teeth; it encompasses a complete system that includes your teeth, tongue, gums, joints, bones, and more. When one aspect of your oral health deteriorates, it can affect your entire mouth. Swollen, itchy, sore, or bleeding gums can serve as early indicators of potentially more severe underlying issues.

A cavity is essentially a hole in your tooth that tends to enlarge over time. This decay is primarily brought about by bacteria and dental plaque, and its progression can be exacerbated by the consumption of sugary or acidic foods and beverages.

Once decay is removed from a tooth, we place a filling to restore its function and seal it off. This not only makes it more challenging for new decay to develop but also simplifies the process of flossing and brushing around the tooth for better oral hygiene.

Baby teeth only fall out if there is an adult tooth behind it. Unless it is very loose and ready to fall out soon, a baby tooth with a cavity should be treated as soon as possible to avoid possible pain, swelling, infection, and damage to nearby developing adult teeth.

What Our Patients are Saying

Indira Boodhan Bastias

Dr. Chin and team were amazing when interacting with my 10 year old daughter. She is terrified of having any dental work done, and after her first visit here she was calm and relaxed. She has asked me to make this her regular dental care office. Dr. Chin was great with her. She showed my daughter what tools she was going to use and the procedure. It was very comforting to see. I'll be booking future cleanings for all my kids here. Thanks for being so welcoming.
